San Diego choses Three Cups of Tea for 2008 community-wide reading campaign

SAN DIEGO: San Diegans are encouraged to pick up a recent best seller as part of the annual “One Book, One San Diego” campaign, which encourages reading in the city.

The book, “Three Cups of Tea,” depicts the perils faced by the authors, Greg Mortenson and David Relin, as they tried to build schools in Central Asia. The authors will appear at the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The City Council backed the drive in a Tuesday vote. It is sponsored by the San Diego Public Library and KPBS.
